Nude V-gaps

Hello everyone! For this post I've got nude V-gaps to share with you, I made them yesterday when I was going for a "dramatic" look haha. To make the V-gaps I used tape as usual, I cut out triangles with acute angles to make my nails seem a little bit longer. ;-) The polish to go with the design was Essence Fateful Desire, a vampy red jelly/creme. It did need two coats to cover, so I couldn't remove the tape immediately after one coat of polish, which I normally do for nice, crisp lines. But I kept both layers thin so in the end it still turned out neat enough. :) And since I wasn't wearing a basecolor, I could place the tape right away, which made this mani pretty quick to do as well, I like that! :-) What are your thoughts on this mani? Would you give this a try yourself?

  4. I think this is a cute and simple mani. My mom complains that french mani makes her short nails look even shorter, so maybe I can try this mani on her instead =D

  6. How do you get each triangle is the same shape and size? I'm terrible at keeping things neat and even! Any tips???

    1. The way I cut the triangles is by first cutting off a little piece of the tape roll which I then cut in half diagonally. So if I keep all the pieces (before cut in half) the same size (about an inch/2,5 cm) the triangles will maintain the same size as well. :) To keep the strips even, I stick the first piece on a surface, then I stick the whole tape roll next to it and cut my second piece on the same length as the first. ;-)

  7. This is beautiful! And I loved how you used such a vibrant pink. I might try this one day but my cuticles are never nice enough to want to draw more attention to them. Hehe.

I usually don't like to show just a bit of nude nails, and some parts of it colored, but here I think it really works. Good job :)

  21. Help! Whenever I do tape manis, the tape always ends up pulling off some of the top color to leave little notches in the line. Any tips to avoid this?

    1. Did you remove the tape right away? Because if you let the polish dry first, the tape can pull some of it away with the removal leaving uneven lines. And try pulling the tape towards the polish instead of away from it when removing it. This way you minimize the risk of dragging the polish. For example, with these nude V-gaps, I removed the tape by holding each tape triangle at the top (at the cuticles) and pulling it towards the tip of my nails. Good luck!

  24. Do u have any suggestions on colors if ur planning to do this mani?

    1. You can use any color you like really. I used a red here for a vampy look, but when I'm in a cheerful mood I'll go for something brighter. You can also go for a skittle (different color on each finger) for a really bold mani. :-)

    1. Thanks Deanna! I admit I don't have to do much to keep my nails in good shape, they're pretty strong by themselves. I do moisterize them plus the cuticles every day with handcream. And I guess eating healthy also influences their shape.
